~ The beginning ~
Arriving home from Florida on Feb 24th 2011
Pictures as the car is first looked over
This is the weld on the exhaust:
These pictures show the holes left behind from the removal of the side molding.
Holes holes holes!
The door lock is pretty corroded… a non issue at this time.
Some Rust spots, paint chipped off. Door is drooping a bit also.
More rust repair work done?
Not too shabby, not rusty.
Some more sanding required.
Cement?? –update, no it wasn’t cement, just mud, lol.
Some loss of paint, that will need some attention.
Not sure if that was a repair but certainly is a different color.
Grill looks like it can use some freshening up, or replacement, hehe
Some work done here….not sure why it didn’t go at little more over.
Screws are not all the way in….. it’s ok, since I’ll have to take it off anyway.
Some more repair work (overspray). Oh and those sideview mirrors are super flimsy.
This doesn’t look too bad.
Wheels need some spiffing up!
Some issue here, possibly door sag.
THIS will need some work, hopefully it can be saved.
Ouch!
and More.
LOL, typical.
Looks decent….
Interior
Driver’s side seat is shot, shift boot is shot, steering wheel is upside down. Glove box and center storage lids are shot.
Headliner was replaced but may need some work again.
Previous owner removed the carpet, looks ok, I’ll still be cleaning it up and coating it though.
Hey!!! Get out of my thread! lol
oh oh, some issues there…………
This seat is good still, not sure if it will stay though.
Pretty clean in there.
We’ll have to see what’s lurking under that door sill.
Driver vs passenger side, not too bad either way.
No tunes.
Shift knob just keeps spinnin….
What? No NOS button?
Oh there’s the other z.
Match!
Fram.
Hood not too shabby either.
Rust in there.

Started work
So after I bought the car, while I was trying to get a shipping company to go get it, the previous owner
decides to tell me that the car has no brakes. No e-brake and no brakes PERIOD.
He managed to connect the e-brake for me before the driver got there – they would not transport it
without the brakes being in somewhat working condition, for obvious reasons.
The car has already undergone a rear disc conversion (280zx), but something was wrong.
Well that was the first thing we decided to take a look at.

Turns out the placement of the calipers (along with the e-brake bracket) caused the e-brake bracket to
hit the brake hose and tear it open on both sides of the car. As the suspension traveled upward, the bracket landed
perfectly on the brake hose. That’s probably not the ideal situation when installing brake calipers. So we are going
to flip the calipers to the opposite sides of the car (which I believe based on reading conversion instructions, is the
way it’s supposed to be installed). This way the bracket is not pointing upwards towards the brake hose.
This is what it looks like – see the brake hose at the top?
Ordered some brake hose, but now have to wait till they arrive to finish that up.
While we are waiting we have cleaned up the calipers and are going to paint
them so that they are not rust colored – lol!
