AFE Short Shifter install
Ok so it a real simple install. Basically:
Unscrew your shift knob, just go slow and keep it straight so you don’t hurt the threads.
Take off the shift box plastic cover (I started on the e-brake side in the gap underneath the e-brake and pulled straight up).

Remove the two screws holding the ashtray in place and pull the ashtray toward you to remove it also (use a small screwdriver to push in the clips to remove the plugs, the light bulb is the biggest pain).
You can leave the plugs connected and just have someone hold it off to the side if it helps…

Pull the little wire holders off the two screws (I just pried them up).

Unscrew the four bolts holding the large plate (two in front of the shifter and two in back)

Pull up the rubber boot that is attached to the plate, it’s just “post-it” glued in place.
Seems like it didn’t want to come out, but if you put your hands around the underside and jiggle it a bit, it’ll come free.

Now you got one more to remove, same thing but this one is shaped to fit snuggly around the base, just lovingly pull up and around gently.

Remove the three screws showing (phillips screwdriver)

You’re left with this, so just remove the plate around the shifter

Now you have complete access to lift the old shifter out (be careful though, have a couple of paper towels ready, there’s fluid in there and on the old shifter that you don’t want to get on your interior)

Pop the new one in making sure that the tab is located on the right side (this is your reverse lockout… please correct me if this is not the right term).

Hopefully this is a better picture (sorry for the blur) but notice the placement of the shifter tab and the plate. Also note that the plate has three holes to line up on the base, they fit right in so you know it’s right.

That’s it, just reverse to put everything back on… took about 15 min tops.
If you need more info, let me know…
